The Tech-Air® 5 airbag vest stands out due to its slim, self-contained design that offers unrivalled protection for the rider's shoulders, chest, ribs, and full back. The inclusion of shoulder protection is particularly significant as it minimizes the risk of shoulder and collarbone injuries, which are common in road impacts. This comprehensive coverage makes Tech-Air® 5 the most protective airbag available on the market today.
Equipped with an advanced electronic system featuring six integrated sensors (three gyroscopes and three accelerometers), the Tech-Air® 5 utilizes a sophisticated crash algorithm powered by AI. This technology, refined through extensive research and analysis of riding data from millions of kilometres and thousands of crashes, ensures accurate detection and timely deployment of the airbag in the event of a crash. The airbag inflates within 20 to 40 milliseconds, significantly reducing the impact force by up to 95% compared to passive protectors. This level of protection is equivalent to that offered by 18 back protectors, making the Tech-Air® 5 a standout in rider safety.
Ease of use is another key feature of the Tech-Air® 5. Riders simply need to zip up the vest and close the magnetic flap to be ready for the road. An LED display indicates the operational status of the airbag, while the integrated, certified lithium-ion battery provides 30 hours of riding time and can be quickly recharged using the included magnetic micro USB charger. The system also boasts Bluetooth connectivity and an accompanying Tech-Air® App, which displays the system's status, battery level, and detailed ride analysis, with firmware updates accessible via the app.

- The Tech-Air® 5 wearable vest is designed to be worn under any proper fitting textile jacket, keeping in mind that the jacket must be large enough to accommodate the expansion of the airbag in the event of a crash. For textile jackets this requires an additional 4 cm of space around the circumference of the body. For those riders who want to wear a sports leather jacket, Tech-Air® 5 may also be worn with Tech-Air® compatible leather jackets which have built in leather expansion panels to accommodate the inflation of the airbag
- Riders who wish to wear a leather jacket that is not Tech-Air® compatible must be sure that the leather jacket has an additional 4 cm of space around the circumference of the entire chest
UPDATES
- A new software update for the Tech-Air 5® is available in the Alpinestars Tech-Air® App! With this software update, the RACE RIDING MODE has now been introduced
- The Tech-Air® 5 is delivered in STREET RIDING MODE as standard
- The Tech-Air® App must be updated to the latest version (this is normally done automatically, unless automatic app updates are deactivated)
- To manually update, open the App and select Settings and Software; as soon as the Tech-Air® 5 vest is switched on and the system is paired with the App, the system software can be updated in the App via this point
- After the update, as a rider you will see the new Riding Modes option in the App Settings and can switch between STREET and RACE mode
- Please note that the "RACE RIDING Mode" may ONLY be used for riding on closed racetracks and cannot be used for other types of riding!
Chest: Measure around the fullest part, under the armpits, keeping the tape horizontal.
Waist: Measure around the natural waist line, inline with the navel, keeping the tape horizontal.
Hip: Measure around the fullest part of your hips, about 20cm below waist line, keeping the tape horizontal.
Outer Arm: Measure from shoulder (Humerus) to wrist.
Height: Stand against a wall, ask someone else to measure from the floor to the top of your head, keeping the tape vertical.

Custom Charges
If you are ordering goods for delivery outside the UK, please note that your consignment may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once the goods reach the country of destination. Any such charges levied in relation to customs clearance must be paid by you. It is accepted by you that KTM Direct has no control over additional charges in relation to customs clearance. KTM Direct recommends that you check with your local customs officials or post office for more information regarding importation taxes/duties that may be applicable to your online order. You will be the importer of record and responsible for any import VAT and duty that needs to be paid. In addition, any charges for import clearance will be paid by you, the customer. Refunds of any returned order will be of items, not the services incurred.

Royal Mail deliveries are typically sent by Royal Mail 48 so will normally arrive within a maximum of 2-3 working days. DHL deliveries are typically made the next working day, but some remote areas may require an extra day. All in stock orders placed up until 9.00am are dispatched the same working day. Any in stock orders placed after 9.00am may not be dispatched until the next working day.

Returns Information
We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
To start a return, you can contact us at hello@ktmdirect.co.uk. If your return is accepted, we’ll send you instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Damages and issues
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.
Exceptions / non-returnable items
Certain types of items cannot be returned, like perishable goods (such as food, flowers, or plants), custom products (such as special orders or personalized items), and personal care goods (such as beauty products). We also do not accept returns for hazardous materials, flammable liquids, or gases. Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item.
Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.
Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded to your original payment method. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
